Master perfect parrying to counter enemy attacks effectively
Boss Guides • Combat Strategies • Game Walkthrough
Try to sneak around as much as possible—this can make it easier to eliminate or weaken opponents with stealth attacks. You can also avoid stronger enemies altogether to avoid risking a direct confrontation.
Practice parrying enemy attacks. This is by far the most important aspect of combat in Sekiro. Each successful parry fills the enemy's posture gauge and brings you closer to landing a fatal blow. You can practice for free with Hanbei in the crumbling temple.
Learn how to properly respond to attacks that are impossible to block. Depending on the type of attack, you'll either have to jump or dodge. After unlocking the Mikiri Counter skill, you'll also be able to counter these attacks.
Use the grappling hook. Sekiro offers far more mobility than Dark Souls. Thanks to the grappling hook, you can easily set up an ambush, escape your enemies, and reach a secret location.
You can revive your character after death. The use of this option is limited, but it's still a useful feature that can give you a second chance if you die just before killing an enemy.
Using prosthetic tools will help you win battles. There are various prosthetic tools available in the game that help you, for example, set fire to opponents and destroy their armor. Use them with caution, though, as each use requires at least one Spirit Emblem.
Explore each new location carefully. In Sekiro, there are many hidden locations that may conceal valuable treasures or lead to hidden boss hideouts. In the latter case, make sure you're prepared for such a challenge, as many hidden bosses are extremely powerful.
Don't worry about stamina. In Sekiro, there's no stamina bar. Use this to your advantage and move around the battlefield. Also, combine multiple attack and dodge combos without worry.
Lock the camera to the opponent you're currently fighting. This will make dodging enemy strikes and countering various types of attacks much easier. The exception to this rule is when you're fighting in a small area or against a group of enemies.
Use healing consumables carefully. In Sekiro, you can't take too much damage in combat situations.
A formidable swordsman who serves as one of the game's major antagonists. He has multiple health bars and requires mastery of parrying to defeat.
A massive, terrifying ape boss that has two distinct phases - the second being even more terrifying than the first.
Your foster father and one of the toughest fights in the game, requiring perfect timing and knowledge of his extensive moveset.
An illusion-wielding boss that challenges your ability to handle fast, deceptive attacks and multiple enemies.
A massive beast-like boss that feels more like a Bloodborne encounter, requiring constant movement and positioning.
The final boss of the main story and one of the most challenging fights in any FromSoftware game, with three distinct phases.
The first major boss, a mounted warrior whose attacks can be devastating if you fail to deflect or dodge properly.
A ghostly warrior with deceptive attacks and a high posture meter that requires constant pressure to break through.
A puzzle boss that requires you to track down and eliminate four unique monkeys with different abilities.
A brutal boss fight that tests your defensive skills against a master shinobi with deadly tricks.
PC System Requirements for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice The minimum system requirements for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice are comparable to those for Dark Souls 3. Sekiro should run smoothly even on hardware that's a few years old. For more information on the technical aspects of the experience, please refer to the System Requirements section of this guide.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has some similarities to the Tenchu series. Stealth kills are useful in this game, but you can't complete Sekiro by remaining in the shadows.
You can't stealth through an entire boss fight. In some cases, you can sneak up on a boss and land the first blow. After that, you'll have to confront the boss in a regular fight. In most cases, you won't be able to get away from the boss after performing a stealth attack. If you do, the boss will replenish your lost health.
We don't recommend avoiding all enemies. If you still want to do so, try to at least confront all enemies in a location you're visiting for the first time. Ignoring enemies will cost you XP, gold, and loot. More information on stealth can be found in the Stealth chapter.
